EverWind has received $16 million from the government's Green Shipping Corridor Fund to develop the facility.
The funds will be used for marine and shoreside infrastructure development at EverWind's Point Tupper terminal near Port Hawkesbury in Nova Scotia, Canada. EverWind plans to use the funds to install equipment, including a green ammonia "loading arm," which will facilitate the transfer of green ammonia to and from ships.
The firm will also lay green ammonia supply pipelines with the funds.
The infrastructure supported by this funding will help catalyse emissions reductions in the shipping sector, EverWind stated.
EverWind is working to set up a green hydrogen and green ammonia production facility in Nova Scotia’s Point Tupper by 2026. The project has completed the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) phase. The firm has yet to specify the facility's production capacity once it begins operations.
