Shipping classification society Lloyd’s Register is a partner in the test programme and will carry out risk assessments of the operational impact running on biofuel, monitor emissions and conduct biofuel quality testing.
“There is a keen interest in the shipping industry to learn more about the use of biofuels as we navigate the IMO’s GHG ambitions, specifically the potential for emissions reduction, compatibility with existing bunkering technologies and associated costs,” Lloyd Register’s chief Nick Brown said.
