Notre Dame is the first vessel in CMA CGM's planned fleet of ten 24,000-TEU container ships. The vessel is equipped with a dual-fuel engine that can operate on methane as well as conventional marine fuels.
CMA CGM said the vessel will be deployed on its Asia-Europe service route. The company expects to take delivery of the remaining nine vessels between 2026-2028.
The French liner operator “took delivery of 27 new vessels powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) and methanol” in 2025, the company said in its 2025 annual report.
It added another four methanol-capable vessels this year, and projects its combined LNG- and methanol-capable fleet to grow to 200 vessels by 2030.
