CMES to order six methanol dual-fuel car carriers from China Merchants Industry

Chinese shipping company China Merchants Energy Shipping (CMES) and its sister firm ship manufacturer China Merchants Industry have agreed to build up to six methanol dual-fuel 9,000 car-equivalent unit (CEU) car carriers.

The agreement allows CMES to order two vessels initially, with the option to increase the order size to six. Two of the ships will be delivered by 2025, and four of the optional ships by 2026.

According to the company, the deal will allow it to “actively promote low-carbon green vessel development.”
