DFDS looks to shore power in Vlaardingen to cut emissions
Danish shipping company DFDS’ vessels will start utilizing shore power when they dock in Vlaardingen, Netherlands by the end of 2023.

France-based Actemium will build the shore power installations, and electricity will be provided by Rotterdam Shore Power - a joint venture between Eneco and the Port of Rotterdam Authority.
The company claims shore power installations will reduce carbon dioxide by almost 2,100 mt/year.
Port and ship operators have been increasingly adopting shore power to reduce fossil fuel consumption and emissions while in port.
Last week, Northern Norway's Port of Narvik partnered with Plug Nord to provide shore power to ships from 2024.
