The Norwegian Ministry of Climate and Environment has tasked DNV and its partners to develop the roadmap through knowledge-sharing, pilot projects and studied to gauge experiences with alternative bunker fuels.

“By focusing on accelerating the uptake of alternative fuels, knowledge-sharing and establishing green corridors the Nordic roadmap project can play an important role in fuelling the green shift in shipping in which the Nordic countries already play a key role,” said Norwegian Shipowners Association chief executive Harald Solberg, a supporter of this program.

DNV will be working together with Swedens Chalmers University of Technology, the Swedish Environmental Research Institute, ship engine maker MAN Energy Solutions, maritime analyst firm Menon Economics and Danish marine environment consultancy Litehauz.

The Nordic Roadmap project will run for four years and will be funded by Nordic Council of Ministers.
