Eastern Pacific Shipping to order dual-fuel ammonia vessel
Singapore-based Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS) says it will put in an order for a dual-fuel ammonia gas carrier with Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI).

The vessel, which could be a mid-, large-, or very large gas carrier is expected to be delivered in 2025.
Other parties to the agreement are the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS).
EPS claims it will be the first vessel to be fitted with a MAN Energy Solutions G60 two-stroke dual-fuel ammonia engine. It will be registered in Singapore and classified by ABS.
It says there are currently no commercially available ship engines that can run on ammonia only today. And ammonia-ready engines will still need major retrofits to be able to run on ammonia when they make the switch.
