Singapore-based Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS) has signed an agreement with UK-based SulNOx to use its fuel additive on at least 30 vessels for a minimum of 18 months.

A fuel additive is a chemical compound added to fuel to enhance its efficiency, performance and maintain engine cleanliness. SulNOx claims its additive is biodegradable and supports combustion in engines.
The company says no additional retrofits or upgrades are required, as it can be added directly to the existing fuel.
This agreement follows a successful eight-month evaluation of the additive on various EPS-managed vessels, including container ships, tankers, bulk carriers and gas carriers. The evaluation showed up to 5% fuel savings when used with HSFO and a B30 biofuel blend.
