The vessel Yujian 77 is equipped with a marine battery system from Chinese tech firm Contemporary Amperex Technology (CATL), offering a capacity of 3,918 kilowatt-hours (kWh) and a range of up to 100 km.
It is set to operate across four night cruise routes in Xiamen Bay.
Notably, it is the first fully electric passenger vessel in China to be classified by the China Classification Society (CCS). It has also received certifications from other major classification societies, including Bureau Veritas (BV), the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), and Det Norske Veritas (DNV).
The vessel has been deployed by the Xiamen Free Trade Zone.
However, CATL has not revealed additional information, such as the vessel’s builder.
