The 18,000 cbm dual-fuel LNG bunker barge will be owned by shipping company Korea Line LNG. It will be used to offer LNG bunkering in Singapore under a long-term charter with FueLNG.

The vessel was launched yesterday at Hyundai Mipo Dockyard facility in South Korea.

FueLNG aims to make Singapore “the global LNG bunkering hub” and completed its first ship-to-ship (STS) bunkering of an LNG-fuelled oil tanker via LNG bunker barge FueLNG Bellina in May last year.

LNG has been gaining attention as the preferred alternative fuel choice among shipowners to reduce emissions.

Classification society DNV’s data shows that the number of LNG-powered vessels in operation or on order has gone up by 142 since last year, to 388 this year.

This number will more than double in the next few years. A total of 840 LNG-powered vessels are on order for deliveries towards 2028.
