"The green methanol will consist of a blend of bio- and e-methanol, ensuring greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction of at least 70 percent," Hapag-Lloyd claims.
“This [agreement] will bring us an important step closer to our goal of achieving net-zero fleet operations by 2045,” Hapag-Lloyd's chief executive Rolf Habben Jansen said.
To boost green methanol production capacity, Goldwind plans to build a new factory near its existing project in China’s Hinggan League area. The proposed factory will share technology and infrastructure with its current plant. Construction will proceed pending the Goldwind board’s final financial approval.
"We anticipate the completion of a megaton green methanol base in Hinggan League in late 2027,” Goldwind's head Liu Rixin said.
