The 9,100-car equivalent units (CEU) capacity vessel, Höegh Aurora, can run on both LNG and conventional marine fuels. It also has class notations from DNV for ammonia and methanol readiness, allowing the vessel to be retrofitted to use these fuels in the future.

The vessel is equipped with solar panels for auxiliary electricity needs and has shore-power capability. It will begin commercial operations immediately.

Höegh Autoliners expects to receive two PCTCs every six months until mid-2027. From 2027, the company plans to operate the last four of the 12 vessels on green ammonia.

The contract includes an option for four additional PCTCs.
