The vessel, Höegh Sunlight, has a capacity of 9,100 car equivalent units (CEU) and can operate on both LNG and conventional marine fuels. It is also designed for future retrofitting to run on ammonia or methanol, as indicated by its DNV class notations.
Following its delivery, Höegh Sunlight embarked on its maiden voyage to Europe, fully loaded with cargo from Taicang Haitong Auto Terminal in China.
Earlier this month, the company received its third PCTC from China Merchants Heavy Industry's Haimen shipyard. It plans to commercially deploy the vessel later this month.
Previously, Höegh Aurora and Höegh Borealis were delivered in August and September of last year, respectively. Höegh Autoliners expects to receive two new PCTCs every six months until mid-2027. The company plans to operate the final four vessels in the series using green ammonia.
