Houston Ship Channel reopens on and off to clear congestion

February 22, 2022

Fog and poor visibility has kept Houston Ship Channel shut to vessel traffic in either or both directions since Sunday, delaying several vessels from working cargo or bunkering.

When the channel reopened to outbound traffic only at 04.00 local time (10.00 GMT) today, there were 17 vessels waiting to enter inbound to ports in the Houston area. 13 vessels were held up waiting to sail and three shifting vessels were pending.
