The US Coast Guard warned that thick fog and reduced visibility will affect vessel traffic in Houston Ship Channel this weekend and possibly into early next week.

Shipping traffic through the channel is likely to be held back during the night and mid-morning hours due to reduced visibility, the US Coast Guard said in its latest status report.

It says that the weather is only forecast to improve from next Wednesday, at which point it would be easier for vessels to move through the channel.
