IINO Lines has tested the B24-VLSFO blend on a bulk carrier, YODOHIME, equipped with a rotor sail, the company said.
The biofuel was supplied at the port of Zhoushan on 18 January, IINO Lines said, without disclosing the supplier’s name.
The B24-VLSFO blend was used on the vessel during its voyage from Australia to Japan. The sea trials were successfully completed on 15 February, the tanker company said.
“Biofuel can be used in existing marine diesel engines without any modification, contributing to CO₂ emissions reduction as a clean alternative fuel to fossil fuels,” IINO Lines added.
