IMO's sub-committee on Carriage of Cargoes and Containers 8thsession (CC8) meeting was held between 14-23 September.
The interim guidelines lists LPG safety provisions, spanning installation, control and monitoring of machinery, equipment, and systems for using LPG as fuel and minimise risk to ship and its crew.
The IMO has invited member states and international organisations to develop manuals to help crews, bunker suppliers and ports understand procedures for LPG bunkering.
Apart from this, the sub-committee has drafted interim guidelines for hydrogen bunkering and has initiated discussion on guidelines for ammonia.
They aim to get the interim guidelines for hydrogen approved at the CC9 meeting scheduled for next year.
