The storage tanks are owned by American LNG supplier Eagle LNG Partners. Out of the 12 tanks, six will be temporarily used to increase LNG storage capacity at the Jacksonville LNG bunker facility near the Talleyrand Marine Terminal, Eagle LNG says.

The remaining tanks will be used to facilitate LNG cargo exports, particularly to the Caribbean region. The movement of storage tanks in the port area was assisted by the Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT).

JAXPORT asserts that Jacksonville could become an LNG bunker hub as it is the only port on the US East Coast, which has the necessary infrastructure to facilitate LNG bunkering near dock areas.

“As the global fleet of LNG powered maritime vessels increases, the demand for LNG bunkering and larger LNG bunkers is growing,” Eagle LNG’s director of operations Tim Robertson said.
