The quad will examine ways to capture carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from JFE Steel Corporation's factories in Japan and its shipment to Malaysia in liquefied form.

The study will be aligned with a Malaysian study being conducted by Japex, K-Line and Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas).

The trio is conducting a study to evaluate the capture and transportation of CO2 from Petronas' LNG complex in Bintulu to locations within and outside Malaysia, including Japan.

Using the findings of the study, the partners will determine the amount of infrastructure and costs required for developing a CCS value chain.
