The vessel will be built by Tokyo-based manufacturing conglomerate Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI) at its Sakaide Works shipyard and is expected to be delivered by 2025. It will be equipped with separate cargo storage tanks capable of transporting LPG and liquified ammonia simultaneously.

The vessel has been ordered by UAE-based energy firm BGN. KHI now has 81 LPG carriers in its orderbook, 18 of which are LPG-powered.

The global LPG fleet is currently made up of 51 vessels and is set to double with another 52 expected to join this year, according to data from the classification society DNV.
