The funding will help the company start pre-engineering phase of the 100,000 mt/year e-methanol plant.
The fuel produced will primarily be supplied to the shipping, aviation and chemical sectors, Liquid Wind said.
The timeline for the final investment decision and commercial operations is not yet disclosed. This is the company’s second planned e-methanol plant in Sweden and its fifth in the overall Nordic region.
Liquid Wind has also co-signed a joint letter urging the IMO to strengthen its Net-Zero Framework (NZF) by introducing an e-fuel multiplier to incentivise the uptake of green hydrogen-based fuels. Other signatories include European Energy, ET Fuels, HIF Global, Green North Energy and Moeve.
