A series of strikes by dockworkers at the Port of Liverpool ended late last week after workers voted to accept a revised pay offer from the Peel Ports group, which manages the port’s container terminals.

Striking workers, represented by Unite union, have secured 14-18% pay hikes, depending on job grades. This follows a round of negotiations held last week.

Nearly 600 Liverpool dockworkers have gone on periodic strikes between 19 September and 7 November, demanding better pay amid a rise in the cost of living.

“The dock workers will now resume normal work duties, ending a wave of escalating strike action that began on 19 September,” Unite says.
