The ship classification society Lloyd’s Register (LR) has entered a partnership with US ammonia tech company Amogy and Norwegian clean energy firm RotoBoost for the JDP.

The JDP will explore the application of hydrogen fuel cells, ammonia and methane cracking technology and CCS. The trio will explore if these technologies will reduce emissions for a container feeder fleet.

The technologies will also be studied against various regulatory frameworks like the EU Emissions Trading Scheme (EU ETS), the FuelEU Maritime and the IMO Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII).
