The 5,400 TEU containership, Maersk Ganges, was bunkered with an unspecified volume of fuel yesterday.
Maersk Oil Trading has not disclosed the ratio of biofuel to VLSFO - which has a big implication on its carbon emission reduction potential.
Maersk Ganges is chartered by Copenhagen-based container shipping giant A.P. Møller – Mærsk.
The move has expanded the company’s ability “to supply the Maersk fleet with biofuel to Algeciras,” Maersk Oil Trading’s head Mikkel Kannegaard says.
In another development in the biofuel space, Dutch biofuel supplier GoodFuels delivered a biofuel blend to a vehicle carrier owned by Korean logistic firm Hyundai Glovis this week.
