Maersk’s 15,000-TEU container ship, Maersk Halifax, has been retrofitted with a methanol dual-fuel engine supplied by German engine manufacturer MAN Energy Solutions (MAN ES).
This is the "world’s first methanol dual-fuel conversion," Martin Lyager, head of MAN PrimeServ, said in a social media post. MAN PrimeServ is a division of MAN ES.
The fuel supply system for this project was provided by Swedish engineering firm Alfa Laval.
Last December, Alfa Laval informed that the system would be installed alongside the ship's traditional fuel supply line to accommodate existing onboard space limitations.
