MEPC 80: Widespread availability of alternative marine fuels missing – CIMAC
The “large-engine community" is ready to switch to low-and zero-emission marine fuels, but their availability is limited, argued the International Council on Combustion Engines (CIMAC).

CIMAC represents the global large-engine technology sector, which includes maritime engine manufacturers and suppliers from 27 countries.
The industry body said that adoption of the IMO's revised greenhouse gas (GHG) strategy would lead the shipping sector toward net-zero emissions and promote wider uptake of cleaner marine fuels and technologies.
The IMO’s Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) adopted a new GHG strategy on Friday, which aims to achieve net zero GHG emissions from international shipping "by or around 2050".
However, CIMAC underscored the need for urgent political steps to "accelerate the production and distribution of alternative fuels and make them available to the maritime industry” on a large scale.
