Minerva Amorgos, a 174,000 cbm LNG carrier, has been classed by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and is the last in the series of three LNG carriers built by SHI. The first two carriers were delivered to Minerva Gas last year.

The company’s fleet currently has five LNG carriers including the three from SHI.

Adoption of LNG as an alternative fuel choice has been growing significantly among shipowners.

Classification society DNV’s data shows that the number of LNG-powered vessels in operation or on order has gone up by 142 since last year, to 388 this year.

This number is set to more than double over the next few years. A total of 837 LNG-powered vessels are registered as in operation or on order towards 2028.
