The project partners will study cargo transport and bunkering of green hydrogen and ammonia in Australia's Hunter region. They will receive A$100 million (about $69 million) in funding from the Australian federal government, says MOL.
The funding will be used to “build a Clean Energy Precinct site in the port area that will serve as a major center for the production, storage, and export of clean energy, including green hydrogen and ammonia,” MOL says. The project became fully operational in May.
About 30 other domestic and multinational partners have joined the project, including coNEXA, EnergyCo, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, BP Australia and Hyundai Australia.
