MOL will oversee the management of this 174,000-cbm membrane-type vessel, which will be utilised for transporting LNG for JERA.
The ship is currently under construction at Samsung Heavy Industries’ Geoje shipyard in South Korea and will be equipped with an LNG dual-fuel engine from MAN Energy Solutions. It is expected to be delivered in 2026.
JERA plans to sustain its LNG handling volumes at over 35 million mt/year through 2035, the company said in a press release last week. In October last year, JERA signed an agreement for an LNG newbuild with Samsung Heavy Industries, with delivery expected in 2027.
