The 51,530-cbm capacity dual-fuel vessels will be able to operate on ammonia as well as conventional fuels. It will be designed to carry both liquefied ammonia and liquefied petroleum gas.
They will be built by China’s Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering, with delivery scheduled for June and October 2028. The project has received a NOK 90 million ($9 million) grant from the Norwegian government’s green funding programme, Enova.
Each vessel will be time-chartered to a "blue-chip industry leader" for five years, Navigator Holdings said.
Earlier this month, Amon Maritime also secured NOK 253 million ($25 million) in Enova funding to build two ammonia-capable bulk carriers, scheduled for delivery in 2029.
