Gas shipping company Navigator Gas has contracted German engine manufacturer Everllence, formerly known as MAN Energy Solutions, to convert two of its liquefied-gas carriers to run on ethane.

Under the agreement, Navigator Nova and Navigator Prominence will be retrofitted with Everllence’s ethane dual-fuel engines. The conversions will be carried out by COSCO Shipping Heavy Industries (CSHI) at its Nantong yard in China.
Work on the first vessel is scheduled to begin in March 2027 at CSHI’s Nantong facility. Everllence PrimeServ, the company's after-sales and services division, will execute the engine-retrofit work.
The project builds on Navigator Gas’ experience with Navigator Aurora, which underwent the same conversion by Everllence in 2018 and has since accumulated eight years of operational experience with the technology.
