The two 4,200-car equivalent unit (CEU) vessels are being built at the Fujian Mawei Shipyard in China, with delivery scheduled in 2026, the shipping company said.
Both vessels have hybrid energy systems and are “designed and constructed to use battery installation to supply peak power,” the company said.
Neptune Lines has partnered with Finnish offshore engineering company Deltamarin to design both carriers, which will be classed by classification society DNV.
The two vessels will be able to run on liquefied natural gas (LNG) or VLSFO in a high-pressure 2-stroke engine. “Shore power capability will be installed, able to connect to port grids when available to remove emissions when in port,” Neptune Lines stated.
“We are determined to drive the energy transition of the shipping industry while remaining committed to providing adaptable and sophisticated solutions to our customers,” Neptune Lines' chief executive officer Craig Jasienski said.
