It has not confirmed whether it will use 100% biofuel on its vessels or blend it with conventional fuels.

Hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO100) is a biofuel made from vegetable oil treated with 100% hydrogen. It can be used by itself or blended with conventional fuels without requiring any modifications to standard fuel engines.

According to Neste, this biofuel "results in up to 75-95% reduced GHG [greenhouse gas] emissions over its lifecycle compared to fossil diesel." However, it is important to note that the extent of GHG emission reductions also depends on the blend of fossil and biofuel components used by the vessel operator.

OK Slurink, a subsidiary of Dutch fuel distributor Catom, will carry out physical bunkering for the cruise ships in the Netherlands.

According to its website, OK Slurink offers physical delivery across Dutch river ports, providing HSFO, LSMGO, VLSFO and biofuels via barges and trucks.
