The port authority looks to draw on Air Products' global expertise in developing hydrogen infrastructure. Air Products operates in more than 50 countries and claims to be the world's biggest hydrogen producer.
“Ports and their industrial clusters in Hamburg and around the world, have a critical role to play in expanding hydrogen’s role in the energy transition,” says Air Product’s Northern Continent vice president Kurt Lefevere.
The duo will focus on identifying opportunities and lay down plans to grow hydrogen demand. They will eventually look to fuel heavy-duty vehicles, port logistics and industry with hydrogen to bring down carbon emissions.
“This is an important part in Hamburg's portfolio on the way to a climate-neutral port,” says Michael Westhagemann, Hamburg’s Senator for Economics and Innovation.
