The cruise ship, Arvia, is operated by P&O Cruises, a subsidiary of British-American luxury cruise operator Carnival Corporation.
Shell Marine has confirmed that it can now offer bio-LNG at several bunkering locations across Europe and the Americas.
Bio-LNG is produced from various feedstocks, including manure, food waste and agricultural waste. The company works with around 700 farmers in Denmark and the Netherlands to offtake agricultural wastes and residues to produce the bio-LNG.
Bio-LNG, also known as liquefied biomethane (LBM), consists of approximately 99.8% methane. LNG-capable vessels can operate on pure LBM or LBM-LNG blends without requiring modifications.
