Each vessel will have a capacity of 18,900 cbm and will be built at China’s Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering, with delivery scheduled for 2028.

This deal follows Shell’s earlier agreement with Spain’s Ibaizabal Group for two other 18,000 cbm LNG bunker vessels, currently under construction at South Korea’s Hyundai Mipo Dockyard and expected to be delivered in 2027.

Together, these four newbuilds will enhance Shell’s LNG bunkering capabilities across key regions, including Europe, the US, the Caribbean and Singapore.

“The vessels will be positioned based on customer demand when they come on water,” said Dexter Belmar, head of global downstream LNG at Shell, in a social media post.

Shell currently operates 14 LNG bunker vessels worldwide.
