The three port authorities will work together to establish a green corridor with the aim of boosting supply of alternative marine fuels and exploring the necessary infrastructure upgrades needed for bunkering. They also aim to improve shipping efficiency through digitalisation.

The ports will collaborate on pilot projects and develop standards for green ports and alternative fuel bunkering. The knowledge gained through this process will be shared with the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), MPA said.

The deal was signed after thorough discussions between the ports and C40 Cities association that have been ongoing since last November.

C40 Cities is a network of major global cities that work on climate change initiatives. The organisation is also working with authorities in Los Angeles and Shanghai to develop a similar green shipping corridor between the two ports.
