“The eight projects selected for funding cover a range of activities, including innovations in the supply, transport, storage, dispensing and maritime utilisation of hydrogen, ammonia and methanol, as well as safety and environmental monitoring, and electrification,” according to the joint statement at the Singapore Maritime Week (SMW).
Projects centred around ammonia include safety training designed for ports and seafarers, as well as digital tools for detecting leaks and anomalies when using ammonia as a bunker fuel.
Another project involves an Australian pre-feasibility study to assess the commercial, infrastructure and vessel readiness for using green methanol in shipping.
