Spanish bunker vessel delivers first LNG stem to cruise ship

The newly inducted Haugesund Knutsen LNG bunker vessel has completed its first LNG operation in the Spanish port of Barcelona this week.

The 5,000 cbm-capacity LNG bunker vessel Haugesund Knutsen supplied LNG to the Costa Smeralda cruise ship operated by Costa Cruises. Haugesund Knutsen is the first LNG bunker vessel built in Spain and is chartered to oil and gas supermajor Shell.

Norwegian shipowner Knutsen developed the bunker vessel together with Scale Gas, a subsidiary of Engas.

The global LNG delivery vessel fleet is currently made up of 44 vessels, with another 10-14 expected to join this year, according to data from the classification society DNV.
