The ports of Bilbao and Amsterdam team up to develop hydrogen corridor
The Spanish Port of Bilbao has partnered with the Netherlands' Amsterdam port to develop a renewable hydrogen corridor to supply hydrogen in Northern Europe.

Apart from the two ports, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the corridor was also signed by the Energy Agency of the Basque Government (EVE), Petronor, SkyNRG, Evos Amsterdam, and Zenith Energy Terminal
Hydrogen will be produced in the Bilbao port and exported to the Netherlands and Central Europe through the port of Amsterdam.
“In order to realise a climate-neutral energy system and a sustainable industry, the Netherlands and Europe have large hydrogen ambitions. International collaboration is essential to develop the hydrogen market and the associated infrastructure,” the Dutch Minister for Climate and Energy Policy Rob Jetten stated.
This comes hours after Spanish energy company Iberdrola announced a partnership with ACE Terminal import facilities in Rotterdam to build a green hydrogen corridor.
In March, the Port of Bilbao teamed up with British Embassy in Spain to develop at least three shipping routes into green corridors, including the Bilbao-UK route.
