TotalEnergies starts building LNG bunker vessel for Oman operations

French energy company TotalEnergies has announced the start of construction on an LNG bunkering vessel for the Marsa LNG Project in Oman.

The 18,600 cbm capacity LNG bunker vessel will be built by China’s Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding to support the upcoming Marsa LNG project.

In May, TotalEnergies and Omani oil and gas firm OQ Exploration and Production (OQEP) began construction of the Marsa LNG plant at the port of Sohar in Oman.

Once completed, it will become the first LNG bunkering site in the Middle East, with an expected production capacity of about 1 million mt/year.
