An ultramax is a type of bulk carrier with a carrying capacity typically between 60,000 to 65,000 DWT, designed for cargo transport in medium-sized ports.

The 65,700 DWT bulk carrier can run on both methanol and conventional marine fuels. It is the world's first methanol dual-fuel ultramax vessel, Tsuneishi Shipbuilding claims.

Using methanol as fuel will allow the vessel to cut nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions by up to 80%, sulphur oxide (SOx) emissions by up to 99%, and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by up to 10% compared to heavy fuel oil. Additionally, the use of green methanol will enable carbon neutrality, the shipyard adds.

However, the shipbuilder has not disclosed the vessel's owner.
