The Ukrainian army has hit the port of Ust-Luga – a key Russian export facility on the Baltic Sea. The drone strike started a fire at the port, governor of Russia’s Leningrad regio, Alexander Drozdenko, said on social media platform Telegram.
“Thirty-seven enemy UAVs were shot down in the Leningrad Region. Damage was recorded near the port of Ust-Luga,” Drozdenko said.
Ukraine has repeatedly targeted key Russian export hubs – Tuapse and Novorossiysk on the Black Sea, and Ust-Luga and Primorsk on the Baltic – using drones.
These attacks mark a return of Ukrainian strikes on Russian energy production and export infrastructure, following its shift toward targeting Russia-linked tankers in the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea.
Last week, Kyiv hit Russian oil company Gazprom Neftekhim’s oil refining complex in the city of Salavat and the Orsknefteorgsintez oil refinery in Orsk, in the Orenburg region.
Kyiv has launched near-constant strikes against Russian processing plants and export terminals, seeking to choke off Moscow's oil revenues while simultaneously straining domestic fuel availability.
