The Ilsky oil refinery is one of the biggest refineries in Russia, with a refining capacity of about 6.6 million mt of crude (132,000 b/d) a year, according to Reuters.

Brent’s price has gained following the news as supply concerns in the oil market have resurfaced.

Veniamin Kondratyev, governor of the Krasnodar region, confirmed that the massive drone attack resulted in the demise of an employee working at a nearby boiler station, where some of the drone fragments landed.

The drone also damaged administrative buildings at the oil refinery, the governor said.

"As a result of falling drone debris, one of the employees of the damaged boiler room in Krasnodar was killed," he wrote on his official Telegram channel.

The Ilsky oil refinery was previously attacked in February.

Separately, other regional authorities said that Ukrainian drones caused fires at oil depots in the Tambov and Rostov regions, Reuters reported.

Ukraine has ramped up its airstrikes on Russian energy infrastructure and oil facilities in an effort to curb the Russian military's fuel supplies, according to oil market analysts.
