UK-based renewable energy and shore solution firm Net Zero Marine Services (NZMS) is working with electricity distributor UK Power Network to extend an 11,000 volt electricity supply network to the River Thames.
The high voltage charging points will provide shore power and charge batteries of electric and hybrid vessels in the Thames.
“These shore power facilities can significantly reduce diesel consumption by the river’s fleet and cut greenhouse gas emissions,” NZMS’ director Miles Cole said.
The project is funded by a loan granted by the Port of London Authority (PLA).
