The company will use 40,000 cbm capacity at the terminal for blending biofuels with conventional marine fuels. The blending will be done through existing pipelines.
Biofuels gaining ground in Singapore
Singapore has been seeing an uptake in biofuel sales. In January, Singapore sold 45,000 mt of bio-blended bunkers, significantly higher than the 27,000 mt sold a year earlier in January, according to preliminary figures from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).
All of the bio-blended bunkers sold in January were VLSFO blended with a bio component – typically 24% in Singapore.
Meanwhile, this month, Vitol has taken delivery of first biofuel bunker tanker in Asia that will enable it to supply biofuel blends with more than 24% biofuel for bunkering in Singapore.
