AM Green is building a green ammonia plant in the city of Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh, India.
The plant will initially produce 1 million mt/year of green ammonia by 2027 using green hydrogen feedstock and renewable electricity input. The plant's production capacity is scheduled to increase even further to 5 million mt/year by 2030.
“Renewable ammonia and other sustainable fuels from AM Green’s platform, will be compliant with EU RFNBO [renewable fuels of non-biological origins] and Renewable Energy Directive requirements,” YCA explained.
YCA will buy green ammonia from the plant starting from 2027 and supply it further to shipping and other sectors. It will also procure another 100,000 mt/year of green ammonia from Indian renewable energy company Acme Cleantech's subsidiary GHC SAOC in 2027 to supply bunkering needs.
YCA has signed several supply agreements with shipping companies, including one with Höegh Autoliners for the supply of green and blue ammonia for its upcoming fleet of ammonia-ready vessels.
Additionally, it plans to build an ammonia-capable container ship in partnership with NorthSea Container Line. According to YCA, the vessel will sail between Norway and Germany starting in 2026.
