CMA CGM Orsay is the third vessel in CMA CGM's planned fleet of ten 24,000-TEU container ships. The vessel is equipped with a dual-fuel engine that can operate on methane as well as conventional marine fuels.

The newbuild follows its sister vessels, CMA CGM Notre DameandCMA CGM Pantheon, delivered earlier this year.

CMA CGM said the vessel will be deployed on its Asia-Europe service route. The company expects to take delivery of the remaining seven vessels towards 2028.

The French liner operator plans to expand its total LNG dual-fuel fleet to 81 vessels end of this year, it said in a social media statement.

In addition, CMA CGM has also planned a total of 24 vessels for its methanol-capable fleet. This includes 12 vessels with a capacity of 13,000 TEU, six 15,000-TEU vessels and another six 9,300-TEU container ships that are expected to be retrofitted for methanol dual-fuel propulsion.

It projects to grow its combined LNG- and methanol-capable fleet to grow to 208 vessels by 2030, it added.
