Ningbo-Zhoushan port sees completion of 5,500 tonnes green methanol bunkering

COSCO SHIPPING Libra, a methanol dual-fuel container ship, was bunkered with green methanol at the port's Meishan area on 23 August.

According to the China (Zhejiang) Pilot Free Trade Zone, the operation set a new record for the volume of green methanol bunkered by a single international vessel in Zhejiang province.

The bunkering was done under the supervision of Meishan Customs, a branch of Ningbo Customs and was carried out by the methanol bunkering vessel Zhongran Green Energy 85.

In July 2026, the vessel became China’s first newly built professional methanol bunkering vessel and officially entered operation, becoming a key methanol bunkering vessel at Ningbo-Zhoushan Port.

Earlier in June, Zhong Ran Lv Neng 85, the stainless-steel chemical tanker and the first methanol bunkering vessel in China, was delivered to China Marine Bunker (PetroChina).
