Each vessel will have a capacity of 200,000 cbm and will be fitted with a dual-fuel, low-speed diesel engine capable of running on fuel oil and boil-off gas generated from the cargo during voyages. They will also be equipped with a re-liquefaction system to efficiently manage excess boil-off gas.
The vessels will be constructed at HD Hyundai Heavy Industries in South Korea, with deliveries scheduled from 2028.
These ships will be the first LNG carriers chartered by NYK Line under a long-term time charter arrangement with Cheniere Energy, NYK Line said.
The company has not disclosed further details, including the number of vessels involved or their intended deployment.
